چکیده

In many cases, polyol ester (POE) and polyalkylene glycol (PAG) lubricants used with HFC refrigerants, may cause long-term reliability and stability problems. Mineral oil lubricants are much more stable in the long run and do not suffer from stability problems nearly as much as POE and PAG lubricants. HFC based refrigerants and blends are, in general, nonmiscible in mineral oils, and will not return the lubricant to the compressor, making mineral oil lubricants unsuitable for HFC refrigerants. This paper discusses a family of nonflammable, nonozone depleting, mixtures of refrigerants that may be substituted for HCFC-22, R-407C, R-417A, R-502, R-500, CFC-12, R-404A, HFC-134a, and others, as working fluids in airconditioning and refrigeration systems allowing mineral oil to be used as the lubricant.

Freonless gas mixtures for glass RPC operated in streamer mode

We have operated successfully glass Resistive Plate Counters (RPC) at the BELLE experiment by using a nonflammable gas mixture of 30% argon, 8% butane-silver and 62% freon, HFC-134a. This freon is nonozone depleting freon, but a freon has a high global warming potential in general. Thus a gas mixture for RPC might be desired to be freonless in the near future. We have tested the performance of ...

Drop-In Substitutes for R502: The Role of HCFC22 and HC290

R502 is due to be banned in the near future, and ti)e need for an immediately available and easy-to-use alternative is becoming more and more urgent. Retrofitting refrigerating units can prove easier and less expensive if the mineral or alkylbenzene lubricants usually adopted with R502 have a certain miscibility in the drop-in mixtures. This paper examines the near-azeotropic mixture Rl43a/290/...

Transport Properties of Refrigerant Mixtures: Thermal Conductivity

In the present work, the integral equations method is used to calculate transport properties of polar fluids. For this goal, we use the Stockmayer potential and examine theoretically the thermal conductivity of several refrigerant mixtures such as R125+R134a, R125+R32, R125+R152a, R134a+R32, R152a+R32, R134a+R143a, and R125+R143a. We solve numerically the Ornstein-Zernike (OZ) equation usin...

Some Safety Studies of a Ternary Refrigerant

A ternary blend of refrigerants composed of HCFC-22, HCFC-142b (chlorodifluoroethane), and a small amount of isobutane, has been used as a drop in substitute for CFC-12 and R-500 refrigerants. It's use as a refrigerant was presented at the Purdue 1992 International Refrigeration Conference--Energy Efficiency and New Refrigerants[ I] . This paper will cover safety related issues and testing perf...

An Analytical Equation of State for Saturated Liquid Refrigerant Ternary Mixtures

In this work an analytical equation of state has been employed to calculate the PVT properties ofternary refrigerant mixtures. The theoretical EoS is that of Ihm, Song and Mason, which is based onstatistical-mechanical perturbation theory, and the two constants are enthalpy of vaporization ΔHvapand molar density ρnb, both at the normal boiling temperature. The following three temperaturedepende...
